Education
There are few things in this life that actually changes a
life. One of them is music.
The goal does not have to be to become a professional musician
- but by studying music earnestly for a few short years, the
student (of virtually any age), achieves additional hand-eye
coordination, improved neuron connections to the brain,
especially in young children, along with math skills learned
in a fun way and perhaps most importantly, a
"student" develops a more profound appreciation of
music of all kinds.

• Why Not "TRY IT" for a Couple of Months?
If, in any field, a student tries to master a sport, a
work skill or a serious hobby, in a couple of months, he in
all probability will fail. This seems to be understood in most
areas - except music.
The minimum time to study varies with each individual, but
certainly a period of, let's say one year - seems a reasonable
time to gain the rewards enjoyed for a lifetime. This requires
a commitment from the parent as well as the student. But
certainly this is parenting at its finest - Local Mom

• Why Not Just Buy a Toy Keyboard and See How It Goes?
Play the trumpet cannot be learned by blowing into a
seashell. It is much the same for the piano.
A toy keyboard that has abbreviated notes, with a
spring-triggered action and having lots of "fun"
sounds, is just that - a toy with fun sounds. Some degree of
technique is required to play - unattainable with a sufficient
instrument. At the very least, a rental piano can be had for
under $50/month, that will be more of a learning tool.

• Why Not Try a Class at the Local Community College or
Parks & Recreation?
While this may be a good place to start a student, in the
long run for real results a better solution is needed.
The young child needs an advocate taking the lesson with
someone and then practicing with supervision throughout the
week. Most parents feel unqualified to perform this task. A
class lasting two months, along with daily practice - is only
worthwhile when followed up by 'graduating' to private lessons
and continued practice.
